Matadors Even Record with 7-1 Victory
|
The Hartford Matadors beat the Laredo Ghosts, 7-1, at Ghosts Ballpark. Starting pitcher Kory Pullar was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. In 6 innings, Pullar surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Nate Benson earned the save for Hartford, his 1st.
Hartford used the timely hitting of Malcolm McKechnie to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Matadors ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Matadors manager Jesse Heugly raved about Pullar after the game. "I thought Kory was 'lights out.'"
The win puts the Matadors at 64-64, while the Ghosts drop to 55-73.
