Starting pitcher Andy Firkins was a major factor in the 3-2 Laredo Ghosts triumph over the Hartford Matadors. Firkins went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 7-6. Laredo is now 79-50, 4 games up in the Stars Conference West Division.

Laredo used the timely hitting of Marcos Amador to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Ghosts on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Amador told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
