The Chesapeake Tailgators defeated the Nashville Lasers, 8-6, in 12 innings. Mike Johnson, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2023 draft, played a big role. Johnson went 2-6 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Tailgators in the win. Chesapeake is third in the Stars Conference East Division with a record of 66-57.

Chesapeake used a timely hit from Tim Hummel to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Tailgators ahead, 8-6. It might've been his only hit, but it did the trick.

"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Johnson.
