The Chesapeake Tailgators picked up a win at Lasers Ballpark, dropping the Nashville Lasers, 4-3. Joe Brackett was the difference-maker. The winner was Brackett. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Sean Hill. The victory gives Chesapeake a record of 65-57.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Troy Appling? The 27-year old center fielder Appling stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Chesapeake up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Brackett.
