The Joilet Jesters got a good effort from starter Barry McLamb in defeating the Portland Mad Ants at Ballpark of Joilet. The final score was 5-2. Joilet is in 5th place in the Stars Conference East Division with a record of 53-70.

The Mad Ants had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Jesters going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old third baseman Bob de Leon came to the plate. de Leon hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch changeup from Portland hurler Matt Parsons. It was de Leon's 14th double of the year.

"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said de Leon. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
