Marshals Handle Chupacabras, Nab 3-1 Win
|
In a tight tilt between the Baxter Springs Marshals and the El Paso Chupacabras, Tony Lantinga was the deciding factor. The Baxter Springs right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Josh Gatto, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. Baxter Springs is now 64-54, El Paso 64-54.
The Chupacabras had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Marshals going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop Alan McConnell came to the plate. McConnell hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-2 changeup from El Paso hurler Victor Figueroa. It was McConnell's 3rd triple of the year.
"I thought we competed really well," said Marshals manager Justin Watts. "I thought the energy was really good."
