Marshals Squeeze By Glendale, 2-1
|
The Baxter Springs Marshals earned a close win over the Glendale Muskies, thanks in part to Tony Lantinga. The Baxter Springs right-hander, who is rated as the 92nd best prospect by BNN, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. The winning pitcher was Lantinga, now 3-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The 4th-place Marshals hiked their record to 59-59.
Had Jake Baker not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Baker hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Marshals.
Baxter Springs manager Mitsuaki Sakaguchi commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
