The Portland Mad Ants got a stellar effort from pitcher Matt Parsons, helping Portland score a win over the visiting Chesapeake Tailgators, 1-0. The winning pitcher was Parsons, now 12-8. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Kevin Kovach closed it out for his 25th save.

Jerry Blake drove in one run for Portland. The 27-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Alex Martinez. It was his 52nd RBI of the season.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Blake.

Portland now sits at 59-59, while Chesapeake falls to 63-55.
