The Montreal Royals got a strong performance from pitcher Mark Stuart. Entertainer stymied the Fremont offense en route to a solid, 5-2 win at Turtles Ballpark. Stuart, now 2-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Picking up the save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Marc Stephan.
Justin Phelps was vital to the Montreal win. He was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the third with two out, Phelps hit a 2-run single. It made the score 4-2, in favor of the Royals.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Montreal manager Bobby White.
Fremont's current losing streak is now 4 games.
