Thanks in large part to right fielder Dan Greening, the Baxter Springs Marshals beat the Portland Mad Ants, 8-6. Greening went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Jeff Adams picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-5. Juan Loera suffered the loss. The loss makes Portland 66-50.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Art MacDonald came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Portland pitcher Juan Loera, he hit a 3-1 changeup for a 2-run double. It was a game-changer, putting Baxter Springs on top, 8-6.
"We got the victory," said MacDonald. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
