Lasers Lose at Home, 6-3
|
The Baxter Springs Marshals cut down the Nashville Lasers by the score of 6-3, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Bobby Mendoza. Mendoza went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Marshals. Ricardo Quiroz earned the win for Baxter Springs. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 6-2. Steven Hyatt recorded his 23rd save for Baxter Springs.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Danny Pinto? The Baxter Springs third baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Marshals on top, 3-2. For the game, Pinto had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I felt good up there," said Pinto. "I saw the ball well."
The second-place Marshals bumped their record to 63-54.
