Luis Najera pitched well, but the Quebec Aces still fell short, losing, 1-0, to the Portland Mad Ants at Mad Ants Ballpark. Portland pitcher Pete Mead got the win, upping his record to 6-4. Luis Najera got the loss. Clark Estes earned the save for Portland, his 3rd of the year.

Travis Starkey went 1 for 3 for Portland. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Starkey, who leads the SC with a .388 on-base percentage, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Quebec hurler Luis Najera, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Mad Ants a 1-0 lead.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Portland manager Will Berman said.

The win gives Portland a season record of 67-47.
