Marshalls Tack 5-3 Loss on Stampede
|
The Fremont Marshalls cut down the Lubbock Stampede by the score of 5-3, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter David Hollick. Hollick went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Marshalls. The win went to Tim Peters in relief, making him now 2-0. Rick Ways took the loss for Lubbock. Mark Luby earned save number 2 this season.
Fremont used the timely hitting of Kyle Stansberry to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Marshalls on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Stansberry attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
The Marshalls lead the Stars Conference West Division by 4½ games.
