Governors Beat Stampede, 5-3
|
Lubbock got a valiant performance from pitcher Gerardo Lozano, but it wasn't enough to beat the Little Rock Governors. Little Rock won the game, 5-3. Lozano threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Chris Bruhl, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 0.2 innings. Andy Hannah closed it out for his 8th save.
Little Rock used the timely hitting of Jose Lazaro to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Governors on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Little Rock manager Felipe Arriaga commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The win puts the Governors at 46-68, while the Stampede drop to 54-60.
