Marshals Rally Late to Clip Hartford
|
The Baxter Springs Marshals had to overcome a fine effort from Hartford pitcher Mario Ruiz to win, 3-2, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Ruiz went 10 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win was credited to Jeremy Reyner in relief. His record improves to 3-1. John Bickel took the loss. Oliver Wilbanks earned the save for Baxter Springs, his 2nd.
Baxter Springs needed the clutch hitting of Johnny Pullam to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Marshals on top, 3-2. For the game, Pullam had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Pullam.
The 5th-place Matadors now sit at 59-55.
