Mad Ants Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
Mario Ruiz pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Hartford Matadors, despite Ruiz's fine outing, dropped a 1-0 decision to the Portland Mad Ants at Ballpark of Tacoma. The Matadors, at 55-54, have lost 4 straight games.

Timmy Coenen came through for Portland when he hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth. With the bases empty, he hit a two-strike sinker to right field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.

"We leaned on our pitching tonight," Coenen said.
