The Chesapeake Tailgators nipped the Nashville Lasers, 4-3, at Tailgators Ballpark. Chesapeake pitcher Jim Wallace, in particular, starred. Bobby Dwyer earned his 9th save in 9 chances. The Tailgators are now 45-66, while the Lasers fall to 65-46.

Chesapeake designated hitter Trey Maughan contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 92nd hit of the season and put the Tailgators ahead, 4-1.

Maughan said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
