The Nashville Lasers downed the Montreal Royals, 1-0, at Lasers Ballpark. Starring for Nashville was pitcher Malcolm Slater. Nelson Martinez recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 2 for 3. The Lasers, at 60-51, have now won 6 straight.
Nashville took a 1-0 lead on Chris Goldsmith's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Goldsmith hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Montreal pitcher Steve Pikula visibly frustrated.
"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said Goldsmith.
