Tailgators Grind Out 1-0 Win
|
Tailgators Ballpark featured a tense pitchers' duel.
Jimmy Miano was terrific for the Chesapeake Tailgators in his team's 1-0 triumph over the Lubbock Stampede. His performance earned Miano rave reviews. Jim Unknown was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Tailgators had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when left fielder Mike Johnson hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Phil Dalton and made the score 1-0, Tailgators. Johnson was 1 for 4.
Chesapeake manager Dave York commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The triumph makes Chesapeake 30-78.
