Royals Win, Moore hits 2 home runs
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Montreal Royals and Montreal Canadiens.
Jeremy Moore was a major contributor to the 7-2 Montreal win over Montreal. The Royals left fielder belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Dave Hernandez earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4 innings. His record is now 1-1.
Montreal used the timely hitting of Brad Stein to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Royals on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Montreal skipper Bobby White.
Montreal's record now stands at 69-39, placing them first in the Stars Conference East Division.
