Tailgators Trump Ghosts, 6-3
|
Chesapeake parlayed a decent outing from starter Chris Burton into a solid win over the Laredo Ghosts. The final score was 6-3. The winning pitcher was Burton, now 3-5. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. The Tailgators now have a record of 43-64 with the win over Laredo.
Chesapeake got a lift in the bottom of the first from center fielder Mark Riley, who hit a splitter to right-center for a 2-run double. His 12th double of the season put the Tailgators up, 2-1.
"I'm happy we won," said Burton. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
