Marshals Absorb 4-1 Home Loss
|
Joilet pitcher Chase Lovett did his part in helping his team defeat the Baxter Springs Marshals, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Chris Rumrill closed out the game, earning his 18th save. Joilet improves to 58-45 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.
Jon Fritz had a big 2-run home run for the Jesters in the top of the fourth inning. With Joilet leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a cutter from former first round draft pick Scott Reynolds and swatted a home run to left. It was his 12th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Jesters ahead, 3-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Lovett told the Joilet Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
