Royals Win at Lubbock, 6-1
|
The Montreal Royals dealt the Lubbock Stampede a 6-1 loss at Reagor Dykes Stadium. Matt Russo was the star on offense. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times. Stephen Stride, the winner, is now 10-5. He struck out 3 and walked 2 over 5.2 innings, while allowing 1 run on 5 hits. Jonathan Higginbotham closed it out for his 2nd save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Corey Mills? The Montreal designated hitter had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Royals on top, 2-0. For the game, Mills had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Royals manager Bobby White, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
