Lasers Thwart Marshalls, 3-2

In a low-scoring contest between the Nashville Lasers and the Fremont Marshalls, Danny Heasley was the X factor. The Nashville right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Earning his 19th save for Nashville was Malcolm Freeman. The 4th-place Lasers lifted their record to 52-49.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Lasers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the third, when third baseman Jamie Bender hit a solo home run. The home run came off Brian Gay and made the score 3-0, Lasers. Bender went 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Fremont manager Bill Mason.
