Tailgators Earn 3-0 Home Win
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Chesapeake Tailgators and the Fremont Marshalls. Chesapeake won it, 3-0. Chesapeake starter Jimmy Miano was in command. The winner was Miano. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Steve Oswald. Picking up his 6th save was fireballing right-hander Bobby Dwyer.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the sixth inning, but Miano was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Fremont trailing 2-0, Miano retired Jim Kaufman, who grounded out.
The setback makes Fremont 58-42.
