The Portland Mad Ants defeated the Laredo Ghosts, 7-5, in part because of center fielder Pat Kirchner. Kirchner went 3-5 with a home run and 2 triples, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Mad Ants. The winning pitcher was Kevin Kovach. He's now 4-1. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits for the Mad Ants. Rich Wilkinson closed out the game, earning his 21st save.

Portland took a 7-4 lead on Kirchner's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Bill Reno in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Portland to the win.
