Marshalls Rally to Win
|
The Fremont Marshalls earned a win at Hedgehogs Park, knocking off the Portland Mad Ants, 5-3. On the bump for Fremont was right-hander Tarjei Wiese. He had a starring role in the triumph. The win was credited to 25-year old right-handed pitcher Cory Newton in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Cory Mattson took the loss. Jonathan Reeher finished the game for Fremont and earned his 22nd save.
Fremont took a 5-3 lead on Tony Baker's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Baker hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Portland pitcher Cory Mattson visibly frustrated.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Will Berman.
The first-place Marshalls now sit at 58-41.
