Marshalls Fall Short, 3-2, at Portland
|
Starting pitcher Oscar Orduno gave the Portland Mad Ants a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Fremont Marshalls, 3-2, at Mad Ants Ballpark. Wayne Harless earned his 9th save, after closing out the game. Portland now owns a record of 58-40.
The Mad Ants got a big at-bat from third baseman Tyler Welsh. For the game, Welsh was 2-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 8th double of the season gave Portland a 3-2 lead.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Orduno. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
