Lasers Dealt 6-2 Loss by Lubbock
|
The Lubbock Stampede topped the Nashville Lasers, 6-2, in Stars Conference action at Reagor Dykes Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Lubbock pitcher and Bolingbrook, Illinois, native Mel Mercado. Mercado, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The Stampede are now 44-51, while the Lasers fall to 57-38.
Ângelo Sedas had a big grand slam home run for the Stampede in the bottom of the first inning. With Lubbock leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a changeup from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Matt Pfluger and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Stampede on top, 5-0.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Sedas.
