Despite a fine performance by third baseman Bob de Leon, the Joilet Jesters lost to the Nashville Lasers, 6-5. de Leon was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. Chris Rumrill, the winner, improved to 7-9. He held the Jesters to 4 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Picking up his 16th save was 27-year old left-handed pitcher Malcolm Freeman.

Nashville used a clutch at-bat from Hector Landa to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Lasers ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We take it day by day here," said Landa, "and today was a good one for us."

Nashville is now 47-48. Joilet is 43-52.
