Royals Suffer 3-1 Road Loss
|
The Little Rock Governors earned a close win over the Montreal Royals, thanks in part to Mel Duran. The Little Rock right-hander, who leads the SC in innings pitched with 140.2, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. The winner was Duran. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Tom Rise. Andy Hannah, credited with the save, is now 6 for 9 in save opportunities.
The Governors got a big at-bat from first baseman Bobby Phillips. For the game, Phillips went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Little Rock a 2-1 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Little Rock manager Felipe Arriaga said.
The win has Little Rock at 37-56.
