Mad Ants Knock Off Fremont, 7-3
|
Portland Mad Ants left-hander Bobby Villasenor pitched a good game against the Fremont Marshalls at Hedgehogs Park, leading his team to victory, 7-3. Kevin Kovach was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 20 save opportunities. The 4th-place Marshalls now sit at 43-48.
It could have been a different outcome for Portland, had it not been for Tom Hirsch, the 24-year old catcher . Hirsch contributed a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put Portland up, 7-0.
"Bobby was pounding the zone," said Portland manager Will Berman.
