Aces Roll to 8-1 Win Over Mad Ants
|
The Quebec Aces beat the Portland Mad Ants by a score of 8-1. Quebec catcher Earl McKinley deserved the lion's share of the credit. McKinley was 2-3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Aces. John Carter earned the win for Quebec. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 9. With the win, he raised his record to 9-4. The win elevated the Aces to 51-40.
McKinley contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Quebec in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, McKinley took a fastball from Rodrigo Izquierdo and stroked the double to right-center. His 5th double of the season allowed the Aces to leap in front, 3-1.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said McKinley.
