The Portland Mad Ants tallied a win at Belmont Park, throttling the Quebec Aces, 4-1. Starting pitcher Rick Winkler was a big reason for his team's success. Winkler, now 6-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Earning the save was Rich Wilkinson. He's now cashed in 20 of 21 save opportunities.

The Mad Ants got a big at-bat from first baseman Mike Pelter. For the game, Pelter went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Portland a 2-0 lead.
