Fans watched the Baxter Springs Marshals and the Chesapeake Tailgators fight to the finish.

The Baxter Springs Marshals took Chesapeake pitcher Blake Paul's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Tailgators Ballpark. The final score had Baxter Springs getting past the Tailgators, 5-4. Paul went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. Baxter Springs reliever Alessio Monti, who is tied for 4th in the SC with a 9.7 K/9 rate, was credited with the win. His record goes to 4-2. Eric Sawyer took the loss for Chesapeake.

Baxter Springs used the hitting of Art MacDonald to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marshals on top, 5-4. For the game, MacDonald had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Nice win for us," said MacDonald. "Now we'll go after the next one."
