Joilet 5-2 Losers to Mad Ants
|
The Portland Mad Ants knocked off the Joilet Jesters, 5-2, in Stars Conference action at Mad Ants Ballpark. Portland pitcher and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native Eric Zane had an outstanding performance. In 6.2 innings, Zane surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Kevin Kovach earned the save for Portland, his 17th.
Alex Aime's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning was a big one for Portland. Coming to bat with no one out, the bases loaded and Portland trailing 2-0, the first baseman reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run.
"I made good pitches, kept the ball out of the middle of the plate for the most part," said Zane.
Portland occupies third place in the Stars Conference West Division at 44-45.
