Governors Beat Ghosts, 5-1
|
Little Rock pitcher Nate McClaskey had a large part in his team beating the Laredo Ghosts, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Governors sport a record of 33-54.
Bobby Phillips had a big 2-run home run for the Governors in the bottom of the third inning. With Little Rock leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a splitter from Andy Firkins, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2014 draft, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Governors on top, 3-0.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Laredo manager Josh Miller. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
