8-3 Loss Deepens Chesapeake Funk
At Tailgators Ballpark, the Chesapeake Tailgators and Portland Mad Ants were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Portland pitcher Bobby Villasenor had a large part in his team beating the Chesapeake Tailgators, 8-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Villasenor got the win, improving to 4-6. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs.

Portland used a big swing from Raul Arreola to get the win. The center fielder walloped a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Mad Ants up, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it changed the outcome.

"No one likes losing," said Chesapeake manager Dave York. "But we'll turn this thing around."

Portland has now won 5 games in a row.
