Ghosts Prevail, 2-1, Over Baxter Springs
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Laredo Ghosts and the Baxter Springs Marshals, Jonathan Johnson, who is tied for 3rd in the SC in complete games with 1, proved to be the difference. The Laredo right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Ghosts win. Johnson got the win, improving to 4-4. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Picking up his 13th save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Nick Thompson.
Mike Fath, who is tied for 7th in the SC with a .477 slugging percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Fath contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Laredo up, 2-1.
"Tough loss," said Baxter Springs manager Justin Watts. "But we'll rebound from it."
The Ghosts raised their record to 33-54.
