The Montreal Royals beat the Lubbock Stampede, 6-5, at Turtles Ballpark. The Royals got a fine performance from left fielder Alex Mendoza, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Montreal reliever Alec Wright picked up the win to move to 4-2. Miguel Aguirre suffered the loss. Montreal is now 51-35, 2½ games up in the Stars Conference East Division.

Bob Cook was the walk-off hero for Montreal. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Royals second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Cook.
