Hartford Defeated by Fremont, 5-0
|
The Fremont Marshalls beat the Hartford Matadors, 5-0, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Starting pitcher Brian Gay was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Gay yielded no runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 2. His record improves to 7-3. Fremont goes to 50-31. The win puts them 4½ games up in their division.
Fremont used a clutch at-bat from Nate Springs to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Marshalls ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Springs attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
