Mad Ants Take Tight Tangle
|
In a tight tilt between the Portland Mad Ants and the Hartford Matadors, John Sherline was the difference-maker. The Portland left-hander excelled in his team's 3-2 win in 10 innings. Portland reliever Kevin Kovach got the win, raising his record to 3-4. Everton Jackson was tagged with the loss. The loss makes Hartford 53-27.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 24-year old first baseman Alex Aime had a chance to be the hero. Hartford pitcher Everton Jackson wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Aime hit a sacrifice fly. The Mad Ants had themselves a thrilling win.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Sherline.
