Baxter Springs Falters Again, Loses, 6-2, to Fremont
|
The Fremont Marshalls defeated the Baxter Springs Marshals, 6-2, at Marshals Ballpark. Fremont was led by 22-year old left fielder Clark Ulery, who was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Brian Gay got the win, improving to 7-6. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. The Marshalls, at 39-42, have now won 4 straight.
In the top of the third, Fremont shortstop Jessie Cable had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Baxter Springs hurler Evan Edelstein, Cable grounded out, driving in 1 run. That made the score 3-1, Fremont. For the day, Cable drove in one run.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Baxter Springs skipper Justin Watts.
