Guest Ghosts Win, 6-5, at Hartford
|
The Laredo Ghosts weathered an outstanding game by Hartford third baseman Chris Davies to topple the Matadors, 6-5. Davies was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Firkins. He tossed 105 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. Joe McLaughlin recorded the save, his 17th.
Ross Gotch, who is tied for 7th in the SC in bases on balls with 39, had a timely hit in the top of the sixth inning. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Laredo center fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the Ghosts in front, 5-4.
"I like the roll we're on," said Laredo manager Josh Miller.
Laredo is now 43-34, Hartford 45-32.
