In a tight contest at Ballpark of Tacoma, the Laredo Ghosts edged the Hartford Matadors by the score of 8-7. Laredo first baseman Jim Sykora, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Joe McLaughlin recorded the save, making him 16 for 18. With the win, the Ghosts have a record of 42-34.

With Laredo leading 4-0 in the top of the second, Sykora came up to bat against Hartford pitcher Tony Ramos. Sykora hit a fastball to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 15th home run of the season put the Ghosts on top, 8-0.
