The Fremont Marshalls got a superb performance from pitcher Terence Rodda, but the Chesapeake Tailgators still won the game, 5-1. Rodda threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. By defeating Fremont, the last-place Tailgators improved to 21-57.

Had Jorge Romo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Romo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Tailgators.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Romo told a Chesapeake Herald reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
