Mad Ants Handed 7-0 Loss by Royals
|
Montreal Royals starter Jose Perez kept the Portland Mad Ants hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 7-0 win. Perez got the win, improving to 6-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. He allowed no runs. The 'W' lifts Montreal's record to 52-25.
The Royals got an important contribution from third baseman John Gadsden, who in the bottom of the third hit a fastball to right-center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 11th double of the season and put the Royals ahead, 4-0.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Perez. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
