Jesters Capture Close Win
|
The Joilet Jesters turned back the Montreal Canadiens, 8-7, at Oilers Ballpark. Adam Pelfrey, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Jayden Nesmith, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Matt Schmid recorded the save, making him 14 for 19.
Joilet used the timely hitting of Mark David to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Jesters on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Pelfrey told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
The win boosted Joilet to 40-36.
