The Chesapeake Tailgators defeated the Hartford Matadors, 5-1, in Stars Conference action at Tailgators Ballpark. Chesapeake pitcher Corey Baker had a standout performance. Jim Grabowsky, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. The Chesapeake winning streak has reached 3 games.
Dave Parra had a big 2-run double for the Tailgators in the bottom of the second inning. With Chesapeake leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Mike McBeth, who is tied for 5th in the SC in quality starts with 9, and swatted a double to center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tailgators ahead, 3-0.
"We did a lot of things right," said Parra.
