The Hartford Matadors locked up a win at Ballpark of Tacoma, knocking off the Montreal Royals, 5-4. On the mound for Hartford was left-hander Tony Morales. He played a major role in the triumph. The Matadors, at 51-24, have a comfortable 14-game lead in their division.

Hartford got a clutch hit from Joe Pettit. The shortstop jolted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Hartford manager Jesse Heugly.
