Laredo got a decent performance from pitcher Jon Cordova, but it wasn't enough to beat the Portland Mad Ants. Portland won the Mad Ants Ballpark contest, 5-1. Cordova threw 7.1 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. The win was credited to Chris Simon in relief. His record improves to 5-4. Jon Cordova took the loss. Wayne Harless notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.

Portland took a 5-1 lead on Jonathan McElwain's 3rd home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which McElwain hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Laredo pitcher Joe Iverson visibly frustrated.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said McElwain.

With the victory, the Mad Ants upped their record to 42-31.
