Leuci goes 4-for-4, Leads Chesapeake to 7-2 Win
|
Tailgators left fielder Jason Leuci put his stamp on his team's 7-2 win over the Laredo Ghosts. Leuci went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Chesapeake in the contest. Mike Embrey claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 7-4. The Tailgators are now 30-43, while the Ghosts fall to 39-34.
Tied up with the Ghosts in the top of the fourth inning, the Tailgators got a boost from catcher Gene Betz. With the bases loaded, Betz saw a full count fastball from Paul Reining and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Chesapeake on top, 4-2.
"We played hard and won," said Leuci. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
