Chesapeake got a big-time effort from pitcher Eric Tate, but it wasn't enough to keep the Baxter Springs Marshals from winning the game, 6-3. Tate threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Jay Yeiser earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 1-0. The Marshals, at 49-26, sit in second place in the Stars Conference East Division.

The Marshals benefited from a costly error in the top of the seventh. With Matt Yeager at bat and Baxter Springs trailing 2-1, the Chesapeake miscue allowed Baxter Springs to plate 2 and take the lead, 3-2.

Said Baxter Springs manager Justin Watts: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
