Tailgators Hang 3-1 Loss on Jesters
|
The Chesapeake Tailgators locked up a win at Ballpark of Joilet, knocking off the Joilet Jesters, 3-1. On the mound for Chesapeake was left-hander Melvin Gamboa. He played a major role in the triumph. The winner was Gamboa. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Justin Berry. George Sisco recorded his 3rd save for Chesapeake.
Chesapeake used a timely hit from Mike Johnson to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tailgators ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Chesapeake manager Dave York.
The 5th-place Tailgators hiked their record to 26-47.
